There are few vac cines for pro to zoan in fec tions in any spe cies. Those that have been de vel oped are summa rised in Ta ble 1. They share the com mon fea ture that all uti lise liv ing par a sites which have been ei ther at ten u ated in vivo or in vi tro or, in the case of Theileria parva, are non-attenuated but in which their patho ge nic ity is mod u lated by con cur rent drug treat ment. Only one of these vac cines is avail able for sheep and this shall be dis cussed be low.
